Yamakasa×PORTER Collaboration Bag Now on sale！

In celebration of the 770 year history of Yamakasa, asianbeat and the globally respected brand “Yoshida Kaban” have collaborated together to produce “Hakata Yamakasa PORTER.”

The design for the “Hakata Yamakasa PORTER” bag originates from the type of bag used in rock climbing: small, light-weight yet highly durable, and can be opened/closed with a single hand. The simple yet bold design perfectly embodies the male centered festival, Yamakasa.

The exterior of the bag is made of STRONTEX: a light weight material with durability to withstand rough usage (the same material used in the creation of car airbags). The interior is lined with locally made Kurume ‘kasuri’ (dyed fabric that has been woven with fibers dyed specifically to create patterns and images in the fabric) – the same dye-pattern material as the ‘hapi’ (traditional Japanese coat) worn by men during Yamakasa. The “Hakata Yamakasa PORTER” bag comes in three different ‘kasuri’ patterns: stripe-pattern kasuri, spot-pattern kasuri, and net-pattern kasuri. This is a superior bag with a high versatility for use in a variety of situations, and even comes with a Hakata ‘tenugui’ (neck cloth worn around head by men in Yamakasa) designed by well-known Hakata manga artist, Hosei Hasegawa.
