Murakami Takashi who is highly renowned in the art scene throughout the world, brought his original character, 'DOB kun' back to Canal City Hakata for the first time in 13 years.

'DOB kun' was a character embodying the 21st century’s new commercial space and unique shape of the shopping center, 'Canal City Hakata', Japan’s first major shopping complex established in Fukuoka in 1996.

The smiling but huffy multifaceted 「DOB kun」was born to be an outrageous character to break through the constipated, post bubble period.
Originally created by Murakami, the character has been a motif over the years. By practicing and analyzing its universality, it is said to have become Murakami’s own portrait expressing his transitions.

Drawing increasing attention, many visitors have turned out.
