Yanagawa-shi [柳川市]

The design on the surface of this cover shows a boat travelling along the beautiful canals of Yanagawa, beneath the emblem of the city. The word "Yanagawa-shi,""Osui (sewage)" is written near the bottom. (Sewage manhole cover)

This cover was used by the sewage industry, which was established in 1981 as a section of the association of businesses for the former city of Yanagawa-shi and former town of Mitsuhashi-machi. The center features the symbol of the former city of Yanagawa-shi. The objects that look a bit like bunches of grapes that make up most of the outer section are meant to signify "Wisteria," which is the flower of the former town of Mitsuhashi-machi.The words "柳川 (Yanagawa), 三 (Mitsu)" and "Osui (sewage)" can also be identified at the bottom of this sewage manhole cover.
Measures and provisions are being taken at various locations in an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
