■Reason for becoming an Otaku?　
As a child, I was to an extent influenced by my mother and this is the main reason I began to like anime and manga culture. In retrospect, I imagine that when I was in fourth grade, the game Magical Project S was why I got stuck on men’s products.

I believe that there is nothing wrong in liking something but is there really a boom?

■What does being an Otaku mean to you?
It’s something that you realize only after you’ve become one.
If there is something out there that you are inexplicably attached to – whether it be manga, a celebrity, clothing, or even food – you are a perfect Otaku. In my case, the year I couldn’t go to the Comic Market Convention, I was so unhappy I wanted to cry. This made me realize that I really enjoyed it as a hobby.
