Kawaii Ambassador Misako Aoki's Lolita Lecture

Have you seen those girls wearing fluffy petticoats, fascinators and toting parasols in a street near you? Then you've seen lolita fashion, a style designed to conjure up images of young and innocent girls. Don't you wonder how these girls got into this fashion craze and how they feel about it? Some people might take a narrow view on this out of the ordinary style. However, the ideas, history and worldwide reach of lolita fashion are a Japanese cultural export to be proud of. It's actually really deep! So I, Misako Aoki, have been entrusted with the role of Kawaii Ambassador by the Ministry for Foreign affairs in order to teach the people of the world more about lolita fashion and its history. Let's begin!
Columnist: Misako Aoki

Misako originally started her career as an amateur gothic lolita model and now works to promote lolita fashion.
In 2009 the Ministry for Foreign Affairs appointed her as the Pop Culture Representative (Kawaii Ambassador). She has attended pop culture events in over 10 different countries, been featured in fashion shows and talk shows, and has promoted all things cute in Japanese culture.
