I found out about asianbeat via social networks like Facebook. All my friends read the latest news on asianbeat and went to asianbeat events. So I wondered what the site was all about and looked it up. Japan is the big thing that links me to asianbeat. I love Japan, it's my dream. But I also have regrets about things not yet achieved. Like a forlorn lover, as the dream cannot be realised it builds in my heart.

My interest in Japan started when I was younger by reading manga and watching anime. I used it to blow off steam when I was in middle school. There were so many stories, so many characters and so many worlds I wanted to visit and that's why I tried so hard for the things I loved. With anime and manga at the start, I set of in search of the Land of the Rising Sun.

The more I read about the Japan the more I fell in love with it. The samurai's complete loyalty, the flexible yet protective aspects of Japanese culture, the education where children are free to grow while being trained, the polite manners, the strong spirit that recovered from war and disaster, I love Japan and the Japanese people. Wanting to get closer to this was a natural part of my love.

When I read of sakura trees I wanted to touch their flowers, to smell their scent, not just read. I didn't want to just read about Japanese people but shake their hands and greet them in conversation. Not just seeing Japan's cuisine on a TV screen but tasting it for myself. More than just finding out about education in a newspaper or on the news I wanted to study there and see for myself. This was the dream of my youth.

However, dreams don't always come true. asianbeat became a bridge linking me and Japan. Through asianbeat I learn all about modern Japan. Unlike other Japanese sub-culture sites, asianbeat covers everything. It doesn't just present information on one world, it introduces the whole of Japan. Then asianbeat held a Japan-Vietnam exchange event!

To sum up, I just love everything about Japan. The four reasons I mentioned above are why I had an interest in asianbeat and I have come to understand how it links me to Japan. Through asianbeat I have met people with the same hobbies and values as me and the site itself has become like a valued friend to me. Moreover, asianbeat has taught me all about Fukuoka, a city where the whole world should try living, and Japanese culture. Thank you everyone at asianbeat for all the information you provide! I hope I can read much more interesting news in the future! Let's have fun and grow together!
