Q and A

otaku04_prof.jpg
■Name Giita
■Occupation Customer Service
■Otaku History I began in February last year, so 7 months? (As at September 2011)
■Girlfriend - Y/N? A girlfriend? Huh? Why?
■Favorite genre Mostly “yuri” (lesbian) genre haha
■Character you'd take for a wife? Hirasawa Yui!!!!!!!!!
■Reason for becoming otaku?
I just happened to see “K-ON!” one day and that’s when I became an otaku. I’m pretty sure it was February 7, 2011. I became obsessed with K-ON, I stopped going out and just really regretted not discovering the series sooner.
■What are your thoughts on the latest otaku boom?
I don't know, would you call it a boom?
■Site you frequent most
The official K-ON website, blogs of the voice actors, and just about any site that’s got something to do with what I’m interested in.
■Word or phrase of the moment
The dialect “~dade.” I like to use it occasionally because there’s practically no dialect where I live. hahaha
■What are you hooked on at the moment?
“Heaven’s Memo Pad.” I just got hooked on it. I’m reading the light novel at the moment as well.
Also, voice over actors. I was a bit reluctant to acknowledge them at first but now I realize just how important they are.
■The next thing you want to buy?
I want to design my own “itasha.”Yui would be the main feature of course, and I would drive it round and show it off to everyone. lol
■How much have you invested so far?
I’ve only just started out so if I include the consumable goods, around 700,000 Yen ($7000).
■What does being an otaku mean to you?
What does otaku mean really? If everyone has something they’re really into, then I guess everyone are otakus! So people who put their hearts into a particular activity are all otaku!
■How do you budget your monthly earnings?
I still live at home so I only contribute about 5% of my salary to rent, 10% on social expenses, food and clothes, 65% on goods, 10% goes into my bank, 5% for car insurance and 5% for other expenses.
