⇒Q/A with the owner

otaku14_kao.jpg
■Name
Inuzaki Maikaze (from Hong Kong)
■Occupation
Security Gaurd
■Otaku History
7 years as an official otaku
■Girlfriend Y/N?
Yes. We walk down the street together wearing our Angel Escalayer T-shirts made by Cospa.
■Favorite Genre
At the moment the main things I am interested in are 1:6 scale movable figurines and life-size models.
■Character you’d take for a wife?
Kanzaki Akari, Ranka Lee, Eureka, Hoshii Miki
■Reason for becoming otaku?
As a child I liked anime but I neither obsessed nor overly interested in the details of it. I had too many toys to keep myself busy with for that. In 2007 after the ‘Super Robot Song Festival Video Show’ at the ‘Japan Anime Festival’ in Hong Kong, I met an individual with a common interest to mine while sending someone off at the airport. From there on out I was slowly pulled deeper and deeper into the world of anime. In the end, through the influence of a friend I ended up encountering what came to be one of my current passions: 1:6 movable figurines from films. As time went by, I was transformed into this. Lol.
■What are your thoughts on the latest otaku boom?
To tell you the truth, if you take pride in what you like (especially in terms of fashion) I don’t think it can really be considered otaku. Every day I wear what most people would consider bold and daring clothing designed and made by Cospa but in reality I don’t appear to be an otaku.
■Site you frequent most
1999, GA Graphic
■Word or phrase of the moment
‘It can’t be helped,’ (shikata ga nai). As a matter of fact, I use this phrase all the time at work. I also use (ry a lot. ‘(ry’ is sort for ‘ryaku,’ which means ‘abbreviated’ or ‘summarized’ in English.
■Favorite quote?
From Adrock Thurston of Eureka Seven: ‘Don’t beg for things. Go out and win it and you will be rewarded.’
■What are you hooked on at the moment?
Aquarion EVOL: I watch it regularly and am entertained by the love between the ‘Fujyosi’ girls (although this is not the main reason I watch it).
Eureka Seven AO: Since I like Psalms of Eureka Seven, I am going to make sure I don’t miss a single episode from the April runs onward.
I also plan on studying Japanese but am currently at a loss as to which school to go to. Haha.
■What you want to buy next?
1/6 SUPER ARMORED FIGHTING SUIT S・A・F・S, but it is so expensive I have a feeling I won’t be able to buy it…
■How much have you invested so far?
I honestly don’t want to think about how much I’ve spent. Lol.
■What does being an otaku mean to you?
It’s a lifestyle.
■How do you budget your monthly earnings?
Transportation money spent towards returning home: 50%
1:6 scale figurines: 25-30%
The rest is spent on living costs/fees
