EGOIST

I think there is something hidden inside of me that I want to try to draw out!

EGOIST Greeting Tour 2017
Here is what the stage looks like during a performance at the 'Greeting Tour 2017 "E/A"'

ab: During your last interview you mentioned that you wanted to eat some ramen, as is it was your first time in Fukuoka. What are you looking forward to eating this time round?

chelly: The last time I was in Fukuoka, and the time before that, the food was absolutely delicious. Everything I've eaten has tasted wonderful, it's been great (lol)! This time I'm looking forward to trying some ramen from a yatai (food stall)!

ab: Your really love ramen, don't you! Please enjoy it and make sure to have a lot while you are in town! What do you get up to on your days off? What do you like to do in order to relax?

chelly: I would say drawing. I do not draw or paint anything on a particularly big scale, I just find it relaxing to scribble something down and do a few doodles. I draw pretty quickly. When I have time, I will draw about two or three pages. Then I can got to bed feeling pretty content (lol)!

ab: You also created the design that features in the sleeve for the "Welcome to the *fam" CD. And you quite often post photos of your drawings on Twitter. What kind of materials do you usually use?

chelly: I don't necessarily intend to post it anywhere, usually it is just for my own satisfaction. Now I tend to do it digitally, but I used to enjoy painting with watercolors. I like the process of coloring in. So, in order to do that I first prepare line drawings.

ab: How about games and that kind of thing?

chelly: I play loads of social network games! If you have a smartphone, it is just so I easy to play, don't you think? Whenever I have some free time I will flick back and forth between a few of them (lol)!

ab: What would you say is essential for your everyday life?

chelly: I would say probably spending a bit of time alone. Recently I have found it important to have a bit of quiet time to myself at the end of the day. I'm more of a night person, so I tend to stay up pretty late (lol)!

ab: It is pretty quiet late at night, so I guess you can really immerse yourself in what you are doing or thinking about! Is there any style of clothes you like to wear everyday or on your days off? And is there any particular reason why?

chelly: Recently, I have started just wearing black, pretty much head to toe black. If you're trying to be cool... The color black is always just the way it is... And that is something I like. It has always been seen as a color that goes with anything, but recently I think it has become quite fashionable to wear black during the summer, which I think is great. Oh, but I do love colorful nails!
ab: Recently, in your music videos and other forms of media, it seems that Inori's expressions have become even richer and more detailed. It is fascinating to see all the different ways that these beautiful, realistic images are continuing to advance. Is there anything you have planned, or anything you are looking forward to?

EGOIST Greeting Tour 2017
Here is what one of the 'Greeting Tour 2017 "E/A"' shows looks like!

chelly: Well, we have been thinking about releasing an album...

ab: How great! The anticipation surrounding it will be huge! When is it scheduled to be released?

chelly: Right now, all I can say is "someday!"

ab: Words of conviction (lol)! chelly, what are your plans for the future?

chelly: I would like to sing and perform as an artist myself. I think there is something hidden inside of me that I want to try to draw out. I would love to be able to showcase lots of new songs from all kinds of genres.

ab: Do you have a message to all the asianbeat readers?

chelly: Thank you so much for always listening! The CD for our latest track includes an English version of the main single. The English version is basically the same as the Japanese, but some of the nuances and style of singing is slightly different. There are a few subtle differences, that's why I think it is interesting to really listen to both of them carefully. I hope you enjoy them!
