Chocolate Sensations at "Kashidokoro Ten"

After a meal a girl has to have dessert. Accordingly, the next stop on my list is the confectionary shop in Canal City Hakata’s East Building, “Kashidokoro Ten.”

“Kashidokoro Ten” is a Western style confectionary store produced by the well-established Japanese Style confectionary company, “Chidoriya.” This store specializes in French confectionary made with local Kyushu produce and ingredients.
Inside the store you’ll find an eat-in space, perfect for a rest after a big day of shopping! On a cold winter’s day I recommend you try their super rich hot chocolate, “Chocolat Chaud Rich” (460 Yen)!

Oh, and the store manager just happens to be quite a good looking Frenchman♥♥♥
The sweets taste even better now knowing that he’s the one who made them (#^.^#) If you want something a little lighter to drink though, they also have regular chocolat chaud (360 Yen). Hot chocolate is the most popular drink in France in winter apparently!

As a souvenir to take home I bought some “BIO chocolat.” BIO chocolat is macro-biotic chocolate that comprises elements of “taste, beauty and health” for a whole new chocolate sensation. Somewhat rare in Japan, this patisserie is involved in the whole production process, from the cultivation of the cocoa beans to the making of the chocolate. Cocoa beans are sourced from Solomon Islands, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador and Madagascar and each of the five types of beans produce their own unique flavors. I sampled a few chocolates made using beans from Peru and from Venezuela. The flavor was really intense and the taste lingered in my mouth for a long time! They really were delicious!

You can purchase the five different BIO Chocolat, the “Kiki Choco Set” (1350 Yen), pictured left, in a box of 10 – two of each flavor. It almost looks too good to eat! They also have a long shelf life and you can even keep them stored at room temperature. The Japanese style packaging has also been a hit with foreign customers apparently.

While I was there I also got to try a special ‘limited time only’ delicacy! To people who live in Fukuoka, you’ll think this looks like a regular “Tirolian” sweet, but this shop has taken it to the next level! The outside has a perfect cookie crunch and inside is filled with cream – I guess you could say it’s the luxury version of a “Tirolian.” The “Tirolian BIO Chocolat” (150 Yen) pictured right.
Aside from the chocolate, they also have a variety of cakes and macaroons available too. Whether you’re with a girlfriend or a loved one, “Kashidokoro Ten” is a must!
