[ICON] Kamiyama Kenji - Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Director talks Japanese Anime.(2/2)
Kamiyama: You could say that mainstream cinema is more suited to depicting the emotion behind the dialogue and the expression through scenery. However, I was really impressed by how Oshii could express a sub-plot behind the main story line in URUSEI YATSURA 2: BEAUTIFUL DREAMER. I believe he was the first to bring a political theme into anime.

Kamiyama: Different to Japanese acting in films etc., I think one of the benefits of anime and manga is that it is easier for foreigners to relate to the plot. In my future works I would like to take this into condsideration.
ab: Do you have a message for the youth of Japan and Asia?
Kamiyama: We have to learn more about other countries. In addition, it would be great if Asian youth could become more interested in Japan. I am certain that the youth of today will be the leaders of the next generation. And when that time comes I think it is important to understand each other and build good relations. If anime can be a bridge between countries it would make my work extremely satisfying.
