[Information] Providing international visitors / residents the chance to come into contact with Japanese culture! The "Fukuoka Cultural Experience Program 2017" is currently looking for participants!
A wide range of experiences! Everything from ancient to modern, pop-culture!

As you walk around the streets of Fukuoka it is clear that there has been an increase in the number of international visitors / residents. Fukuoka has not only been chosen as one of the venues for the "RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019," but some local cities have also been registered as "host towns" for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, meaning that the number of visitors is likely to continue rising over the next couple of years. In response to this trend, Fukuoka Prefecture will be holding a series of events that will give people the chance to experience unique aspects of Fukuoka culture and learn more about the area. This special project will be known as the "Fukuoka Cultural Experience Program 2017" and will start on Wednesday 2nd August!
There will be a total of nine cultural experience-based workshops for people to join, providing the chance to learn more about Hakata ningyo (dolls), Hakata-ori (woven textiles), manga, digital art, noh and kyogen play, watching noh and kyogen play, yukata, flower arrangement, and tea ceremony.
Each program will last for one to two hours, and they will all take place around the Tenjin, Ohori Park area, making it easy to attend. It is also possible to get involved with more than one event a day, meaning that you could try on a yukata, participate in a tea ceremony, and try your hand at flower arrangement in the space of 24 hours.

The digital art workshop will feature displays and presentations from local Fukuoka-based digital artists, while at the manga experience visitors can try their hand at replicating works that are popular all over the world.
