Explore world heritage sites with Robert Campbell!

"The Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Associated Sites in the Munakata Region" were added to UNESCO's World Heritage list in 2017. You can now learn more more about these famous local spots, which are a great source of pride for the Fukuoka area, through a series of online videos in English! You'll be able to access the clips on the official website! Four videos were filmed to provide easily accessible information about this group of five UNESCO recognized sites. The locations include Okinoshima, a somewhat inaccessible sacred island, and Munakata Taisha, a shrine dedicated to three goddesses. Robert Campbell, a well-known academic who specializes in Japanese literature, and reporter Lemi Duncan toured a complex linked to these world heritage sites. Together they introduce the appeal of the area to people outside of Japan. Discover more about the enduring history of these intriguing venues. Please visit the attractions around Munakata and Fukutsu. Meet some of the locals, hike through gorgeous natural surroundings, view Okinoshima from a boat, and sample delicious food!
