Q.We’ve heard that you’re very popular overseas. When you’re directly engaging some of your fans abroad are there any things in particular that stand out in your mind? How are they different from your fans here in Japan?

AYA:They’re all very energetic.

S:They are very direct and tell us exactly what is on their mind unlike most of our fans in Japan.

seek:Because of the physical distance between us I feel this passion from the fans that says, “We might not get the chance to see these guys again so let’s do this!” A lot of these fans have done a lot of background research on us as a band, will come in cosplay, and most surprisingly will have studied and know Japanese, which is really great!

For example, at one of our live concerts overseas our vocalist was our designated MC and was speaking in broken English. In fact, I’d say it was so bad you probably couldn’t understand what he was trying to say but from the audience we could hear shouts of “ganbatte” in Japanese. The fans knew more Japanese than we did English! All of us were very happy about this.
When we perform live concerts in one venue or city, we always hope to return to that place. We’d like to make it so that eventually when we perform somewhere, we know when we will be coming back for a second tour.

AYA:We’ve been to both Europe and America, but have yet to visit the exact same place twice. So far we’ve been to America two times, but I can’t shake the feeling that we are treated like guests. If anything as entertainers, it is our job to treat the audience like guests and not vice versa.

seek:There is a vast array of things we would like to express but as with everything there are always obstacles blocking the path when attempting to bring our ideas to life. For example, we once discussed the possibility of wearing our costumes on the plane to save time. (lol) Sometimes we like to perform little skits and while this is easily done in Japanese (our native language), if we were to attempt something similar in English we’d probably fail miserably. When we started doing gigs overseas, it really made us realize the importance of studying at least the basics of the English language.

Q.Oh, no! So do you mean to say that with each consecutive return to Japan, you guys start to lose motivation? (lol)

seek:Unfortunately, it would seem so.

MIKI:At the time [when they were overseas], I really got into it and felt the need to study English.

YUKI:You were listening to that one famous series of English lessons, weren’t you?

MIKI:Yeah, I was.

seek:Hey, you never told us about that!

MIKI:Well, I got the whole series from someone I knew and downloaded it to by iPod; I would always listen to it whenever we were traveling.

Everyone: Ha ha ha ha ha.

MIKI:And I was listening to that not only when we were abroad but in Japan, too!

Q.Now this would make a great commercial!! (lol)

seek:May be MIKI might appear in the next commercial.(lol)

MIKI:Ahh, how embarrassing.

As artists we need to push limits and succeed to be the artisans we are.

Q.On an entirely different note, what are some of your future goals as a band?

seek:We consider ourselves to be the “one and only” band of our kind and hope to continue this legacy. As a Visual-kei band, we aren’t exactly what you could call mainstream. We’d like to continue to push the frontiers of the path that we tread. As a band we fall under the Visual Kei genre and we along with other band from this group would like to bring it back to the forefronts of the music industry. We’d also like to throw a wide variety of events, not only limited to Visual Kei. We’ve been at this for about 7 years now and have been pretty satisfied with the results but would like to continue expressing ourselves as a band.

AYA:What we need to do has pretty much already been laid out for us. As artists we need to push limits and succeed to be the artisans we are.

May this be the beginning of a beautiful new friendship!

Q.And finally, is there anything you would like to tell your fans here at asianbeat?

Mix Speaker's,Inc.

MIKI:I’m very happy we had this opportunity [here at asianbeat] for this sort of media coverage. Should you take even the slightest interest in our activities/music and decide to have a look for yourself we would be thrilled.

keiji:Up until now all of our concerts overseas have either been in America or Europe. We’ve never had the chance to go to other parts of Asia, but I certainly hope the opportunity to do so arises at some point.

S:We hope more and more people will become interested in our music. I think you’d really enjoy yourself if you decided to come to one of our live concerts even if it’s your first time, so make sure you stop by if we’re ever in town!

YUKI:While I am a musician, if truth be told I almost never attend live concerts. I do however love music with all my being. If you have a listen to our songs and then come to one of our live concerts, it’s a lot of fun! We appeal to a wide range of people, not only through our music but also our stylistic flair. I hope you can join us at some point!

AYA:I understand that if it’s your first time it can be scary but our live concerts are almost like going to the amusement park. It’s a fun and easy gateway to the world of live concerts. Please come check us out!

seek:At first glance we look unapproachable, outlandish even. When they get to know us however, they realize we’re actually quite fun. I hope more people can discover us, “Mix Speaker’s, Inc.” through this interview. For you lucky new fans, we’ve just released our best album to date!

I’m not one to brag but this album has only the best songs and would be happy if you were to have a listen, which will hopefully be only the beginning of your journey into the past 7 years of our musical history. Come to our shows at any time! Even if you don’t know us that well you will certainly enjoy yourselves anyway. May this be the beginning of a beautiful new friendship!
