Grand Prize [P.N.] peachlimeshake (U.S.A.)

01_☆thumnail_yellow_button_final_80x80.jpgI first learned about asianbeat 2 or 3 years ago when I saw some articles about Morning Musume。. I have been a fan for many years, so I have been very used to reading and learning about them in Japanese. I became interested in Japan and the Japanese language because I loved Sailor Moon and Evangelion when I was a kid. I began to listen to a lot of Japanese music, and I studied Japanese hard. I even went to Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo to meet Morning Musume.

Then I found asianbeat. The first thing I noticed is how many languages you can read the site in. I thought it was really wonderful, since the same site can now connect people from all over the world even if they can't speak Japanese. And because the contents are the same in all languages, we can use it to learn each others' languages as well. I was happy to see articles about idols and music next to many interesting articles about anime, fashion, and cosplay. I felt like maybe anime and fashion fans would notice and awaken to how great Japanese music is!
Now I read many articles about anison singers and such on asianbeat and learn a lot, too. I became interested in Fukuoka because of idols as well. My favorite Morning Musume member was Tanaka Reina and I loved her Hakata dialect. Then a friend introduced me to Fukuoka local idols LinQ. I was enchanted by how much the members love Fukuoka and thought that I really want to visit someday, so I was really happy to see articles on asianbeat talking about LinQ members and places in Fukuoka they recommend.

I was also really moved by the kind of Japanese culture events around the world introduced on the site. I felt like even outside of Japan, there are still many more people around the world who understand the things I love, and I want to go and meet them. Because of asianbeat, I met some great new friends at Morning Musume's concert in New York recently. Next time I want to go even farther and meet asianbeat readers around the world!
