[Feature] Fukuoka Manhole Guide (List of Manholes and background information)(30/52)
Chikugo-shi [筑後市]

The centrally situated tree of the city, the "Camphor" is surrounded by the "Camellia sasanqua," which is the flower of the city, in this sewage manhole cover. The text, which reads "Chikugoshi" and "Osui (sewage)," has been inscribed in a Fraktur style, giving the writing an old, traditional German quality.

The colorful design of this fire hydrant manhole cover features Chiku-go, as well as the words "Shokasen-futa (fire hydrant cover)," which is somewhat rare. Chiku-go is a winged dog that is an ancestor of "Hanemaru," the character/mascot of the city. This is also the Hanemaru family crest. (*Chikugo-shi fire hydrant)
