POWER OF GIRLS from TOKYO Vol.3 Josen Drum Dancers (ROBOT RESTAURANT)(2/3)

● Showtime (all five photos).

Taguchi Maki: How much practice goes into the dance routines? Do you all get together to practice?
Maikaze Karen: We practice for an hour at some time during the day before rehearsals. When we get a new routine some of us will even come in on Sunday to work. Newcomers will usually come in before the regular dancers to train with the instructor.
Taguchi Maki: So you have your own choreographer?
Kagurazaka Nene: The instructor is also a dancer at Robot Restaurant but as a representative of all the members she teaches the dance and taiko drum routines to the newcomers.
Amami Ryo: Before Robot Restaurant opened we practiced together for up to 13 hours a day, 6 days a week for 2 years. So we teach everything we learned at that time to all the new members.
Taguchi Maki: 2 years!? But you only opened in July this year, right? Quite a lot of preparation has gone into this venture then.
Amami Ryo: A lot of us had never played on taiko or snare drums before, so we had to learn that from scratch basically.
Taguchi Maki: Do you all get along? How many members are there?
All three: We get along! At the moment we have about 20 members!
Taguchi Maki: So you have dance rehearsals everyday with the entire group? Sounds just like the Shiki Theatre Company. I guess there’s no other place where you can dance like this, right?
Maikaze Karen: Right. But we all get acupuncture and massages everyday too (lol). It’s a lot of fun!
Taguchi Maki: Just seeing you all have fun has lifted my spirits!
