● The girls’ smiles amid their performance really left an impression.

● Come the finale the crowd are right into it.

● Cyalume glow sticks handed out during the show.
Taguchi Maki: Is there a particular message you want to convey to people through your dancing or the work you do at Robot Restaurant?
Kagurazaka Nene: In the beginning it was all about showing people a good time through our dances and taiko performances, but recently we’ve been holding parades and getting customers to ride on some of the robots and our interactions with audiences has really increased. If we can make our customers feel good through that communication then that’s all that matters.
Taguchi Maki: I came to see the show about a month or two ago but I didn’t see any customers riding the robots at that time.
Amami Ryo: That’s right! We changed things up a bit recently. We’ve worked on our comedy a bit more too, so expect a lot more laughs next time you see our show.

Taguchi Maki: The full-body suits are amazing! Whose idea were they?
Maikaze Karen: The boss’s. He just buys these things and brings them to us.
Taguchi Maki: He just buys them? Do you discuss these things at meetings beforehand?
Maikaze Karen: Of course! He’ll tell us that he’s thinking of trying something new, etc.

● During the show some of the performers will appear wearing life-size robot-like costumes.
Taguchi Maki: How would you like to see your activities in this group progress in the future?
Maikaze Karen: We get a lot of foreigners coming to see us…so maybe performing overseas?
Kagurazaka Nene: I would love to do that!
Amami Ryo: I would like to try doing what we do as a theatre troupe. I want us to keep evolving.
Taguchi Maki: The interior of your venue is somewhat unique so I’m sure there are a variety of things you could do there.

● The energy of the girls lifts as the show reaches its climax. This is one powerful performance.

Taguchi Maki: Lastly, in a word, how would you describe Robot Restaurant?
All three: “Robot Restaurant” is…a place to make you feel good!!
Taguchi Maki: That’s exactly it. I feel loads better after seeing you perform today! Even when I asked the owner what his reasons were for opening the club, he told me “I want to bring a bit of cheer back to Japan!” I feel like that’s the message getting through to the customers too. I’m looking forward to seeing how this project evolves and what Robot Restaurant and ‘Josen’ do next. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview!

[Robot Restaurant]
The Kabukicho restaurant that’s home to the 100 million Yen giant robot. More than just dinner and a show – it’s dinner and the show of a lifetime. You could say it’s currently at the top of Kabukicho’s must-see list, and with its high energy, non-stop thrills, this certainly is one crazy fun spot.
[Josen]
Robot Restaurant’s drum and dance unit, pursuing new and artistic forms of dance and teaching the world what it means to be a ‘woman at war’ in this post-modern era. Their performances are of the highest quality and their energy is endless. This is a world that has to be seen to be believed. And it should definitely be seen!
