Sunset Live 2011 - Chilled cucumbers, a typhoon and the music festival that was!(2/14)

Sunset Live 2011 Day 1 - Part 2!

Standout bands for me on day 1 of Sunset Live 2011 were without doubt, rock/hard-core punk band, BRAHMAN, local psychedelic dance band, Habana, and rock band, Kegawa no Maries, who announced only days ago that upon completion of their next tour they will be breaking up.

All the acts that played were quality but these three, for me, were the highlights. I could go on and on about the various performances and events that transpired during the day, but I won’t. You really should check this festival out for yourself! It’ll be a bit of a wait until the next festival but believe me, it’s worth it!
On a final note: chilled cucumbers!

The longer you live in a foreign country you’ll find that you begin to adapt to the obscurity of certain cultural differences and they become, well, less obscure, or normal even. After living in Japan for nearly two years now I find that there’s not much that surprises me anymore…but chilled cucumbers on sticks!? Really? At 300 Yen for one (around $3~$4) this guy was making a killing! I probably could have bought a whole bag of cucumbers at the supermarket for that price but I just couldn’t leave without trying one.

Difference in taste to a cucumber from the fridge at home: none.

Money well spent?...Probably not.

Day well spent? ...Definitely! I'm looking forward to next year’s Sunset Live already!

...
