O-Butsudan no Hasegawa Fukuoka Honten(11/14)
This work was a collaboratory piece produced by husband and wife. Kirikane (a decorative technique that makes use of metallic cut foil) was applied to the surface of this Buddhist statue by the sadly deceased Sayako Eri, who was the wife of Koukei Eri. An expert in kirikane, she was also a living national treasure of Japan.

Kirikane is a traditional technique which uses heated gold leaf, the pattern is created by pasting down finely cut linear metallic strips.
