Enjoy traditional Japanese culture at the "Fukuoka Castle Wasou Festival 2019" on Saturday 30th March!

The hanami (cherry blossom viewing) season is just round the corner! Discover great photo opportunities at every corner!

The cold winter has almost come to a close and warm weather is just round the corner! The arrival of Spring also signifies that hanami (cherry blossom viewing) season is on its way! An event called the "Fukuoka Castle Wasou Festival 2019" (lit. Fukuoka Castle Kimono Festival 2019) will take place on Saturday 30th March, right in the middle of this exciting time of year! Visitors will be able to try on some "Hanagoromo" and Japanese armor. It promises to be a great opportunity for the public to experience traditional Japanese culture! Local idle group "Fukuoka Kanbe Girls" will also make an appearance at the event! There will be a range of attractions for people to enjoy, including on-stage performances and cool exhibition stands! Forecasts predict that the sakura (cherry blossom) in Fukuoka will start blooming around March 20th. So the event might take place while the cherry trees are in full-bloom! The event will be held in Maizuru Park's Kourokan Hiroba. Admission is free! (*Please be aware that a fee is required to enter some areas/booths of the venue). You don't get many chances to go out in a kimono, so be sure to make the most of this opportunity! This unique event will be full of all kinds of traditional Japanese-attractions! It would be great to see international visitors in attendance! See you there! (Editorial Dept.: GON)
