One of Japan's largest scale event during the Golden Week, the "58th Hakata Dontaku Minato Festival" will be held on 3 May (Friday, holiday) and 4 May (Saturday, holiday) at around the Dontaku Hiroba (Meiji-dori). Furthermore, a total of 34 stages, including main and performance stages, will be set up in various places within Fukuoka City, where the Dontaku groups will roll out performances in accordance with their fancy. This year's theme is "祝うたァ!!令和元年 博多松囃子 840年" (lit.: Let's celebrate! The first year of Reiwa, 840 years of Hakata Matsubayashi). It looks like the festival will be passionately celebrating the dawn of a new era!

Don't miss Dontaku groups' performance and Hakata Matsubayashi, and flower-bedecked vehicles floridly designed with reference to "Toy Story 4," scheduled to be released this summer in Japan, and "Anpanman," a character popular among children, the streets are full in dontaku mode!

At the finals, which begin at 6 p.m. on 4 May at the Dontaku Hiroba and the main stage, there is the group dance, where everyone dances whilst banging rice paddles! It's okay to just join in, so please do! Dancing together increases the fun tenfold! (Editorial Dept.: nika).
