●(Left) Dubbed “the running decorated float” is the float of Kawabata-dori. In the afternoon of July 12, in preparation for “oiyama” (the final race) this particular float does a lap around a short course (not a part of the final “oiyama” course) – truly an amazing sight!
(Right) A kids version of Yamakasa is also held in the first half of the Yamakasa festival period. The floats carried by these children are about 2/3 the size of the real ones but still plenty heavy. The war-cry like cries together with the robust energy displayed by these small children carrying massive floats always draws a positive response from the crowds.
