Kazari yamakasa (飾り山笠 )(13/20)
The "omote" (front side) of the kazariyamakasa in Kamikawabata-dori features motifs and designs taken from the "Saiyuki (Journey to the West)." This Chinese classic tells the story of the monk "Sanzo Houshi (Xuanzang)" journeying to "Tenjiku" (India), accompanied by the three disciples "Son Goku" ("Monkey King"), "Cho Hakkai" ("Pig") and "Sa Gojyo" ("Sand"). The image here shows the eye catching depiction of "Son Goku" riding his "Kintoun (Cloud Walking Boots)."
