  |  Next

There were fantastic signed cards to win!

MCPO AWARD 2017 award ceremony reportA raffle was held, with the winners receiving cards signed by the manga artists. Entrance tickets (seat numbers) doubled up as lottery tickets, meaning that everyone in the audience was excited to find-out if they had won!
The judging panel chairperson Tochi Ueyama brought the event to a close by sharing a message aimed towards next year's award; he said to the crowd, "People from all over the world are paying attention. There is so much power in the manga and illustrations that were entered into the competition. Laughter is important in today's society, so let's send lots of fun, positive works out into the world!"

The "MCPO AWARD" gave people the chance to hear feedback from the judging panel at the public screening of applicants' works, provided insight into each panel members distinctive styles during the live drawing session, and offered a platform for aspiring illustrators and manga artists to share their work with others. It was amazing to see manga artists and illustrators from all over the globe coming into contact with the organizers enthusiasm for fostering the youth. It really felt like Fukuoka might have witnessed the birth of the next generation of world-class artists! We cannot wait to see what talents will be discovered next!
