"MCPO AWARD 2017" Award Ceremony Report(7/13)
Live Drawing Session! The audience was glued to the characters appearing before their eyes in practically no time at all!

The live drawing session featured three manga artists, who also happen to be Fukuoka natives, Koshi Rikudo ("Excel Saga"), Suu Minazuki ("Sora no Otoshimono" [Heaven's Lost Property]), Takahiro Seguchi ("Oyama! Kikunosuke"). It was truly impressive to see the artists use the brushes with great speed and finish their drawings, despite being dealing with machine troubles in a relatively short 50-minute session.
Takahiro Seguchi was given the challenge of drawing a character from a much-loved manga / anime, wearing a swimsuit. A street close to the Fukuoka City Museum is even named after this manga! Not sure of the title we are talking about? Take a look at the unique hairstyle of the character drawn above for another clue… Any ideas now? To create the image he used a tablet with a liquid crystal screen and a special pen that lets you control the strength of your brushstroke. These 3 special guests said that they are now more or less reliant on digital brushes and computers to create their work. The audience were really impressed when they saw the final piece and at the same time were surprised to see that Seguchi started to draw the character from the collarbone, which is very unusual. Suu Minazuki were Koshi Rikudo were also really surprised when they saw this!
*The names of famous manga are written inside the brackets beside each artists name.
