We interviewed Thai actor Sunny Suwanmethanont for the latest installment of "คิดถึง♡ฟุกุโอกะ - We miss FUKUOKA♡". Sunny played the lead role in the 2018 movie "BROTHER OF THE YEAR," which some scenes were shot in Fukuoka! We met at an izakaya (bar) called "TERRA-Thonglor branch" in Bangkok, Thailand. The establishment serves delicious food associated with Fukuoka and Kyushu. Sunny sampled a range of dishes and revealed that he is a huge fan of manga and anime!

Sunny enjoyed various seafood dishes during the interview. He tried yellowtail sashimi and "iwashi mentai," which is made with one of Fukuoka's most famous food products "mentaiko (pollock roe)." Fish such as yellowtail and amberjack is usually eaten with standard soy sauce. However, did you know that in Fukuoka it is common to enjoy this kind of sashimi with sesame dressing made with sweet soy sauce? Sunny clearly loved the food and mentioned how good the fish tasted with a different kind of sauce. Sunny then started reminiscing about his time in Fukuoka while enjoying one of the area's most famous hot pot dishes known as "mizutaki." He not only told us about the delicious hot pot he enjoyed during his visit but also described his experience with sado (Japanese tea ceremony), which he had a chance to try for a TV program. He said that the ceremony is like a ritual and that each section has a deep, profound meaning. Sunny also spoke about his love for tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen. We asked if he would like to spend a year in Fukuoka studying and he said "Yeah, I would like to learn how to make sushi! I would keep the diners waiting and eat all the food myself (lol)!" The conversation naturally turned to the topic of food and we ended up having a wonderful discussion about Fukuoka's local delicacies!

Sunny also discussed his love for Japanese manga and anime. He mentioned that he has a room for all the manga and figurines he has purchased over the years. Apparently the room is filled with more than 1,000 books! He also uses it to store various items, such as figurines of characters from "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," "ONE PIECE," and "SLAM DUNK." And that's not all... During his time in Japan he has picked up interesting pieces of merchandise, such as a replica of the straw hat that Luffy owns in "ONE PIECE" and the cloaks worn by soldiers in "ATTACK ON TITAN." It is clear that Sunny is a die-hard fan! So it did not come as a surprise that he expressed an interest in the "Kitakyushu Manga Museum!" The facility is located Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture and has become a hot topic within the manga and anime community.
