The global smash hit "Kimi no Na Wa (your name.)" has become something of phenomenon since its release. The film has had a big impact on society. The content of the story and use of beautiful imagery have struck a cord with a huge number of people! An exhibition featuring original paintings, writing, theme songs, and images connected to the film's director Makoto Shinkai, have been on display at the Kitakyushu Manga Museum since Saturday 21st July 2018!

The exhibition traces the charming appeal of Shinkai's creations and trajectory of his work over the last 15 years. The titles from his back-catalog featured in the show include his debut piece "The Voices of a Distant Star" and "The Place Promised in Our Early Days," which won Best Animation at the Mainichi Film Awards. The fantasy title "Children Who Chase Lost Voices," art-house hit "5 Centimeters per Second," and global success "your name." will also make an appearance in this retrospective alongside "The Garden of Words," which is regarded by some as a literary/visual masterpiece for the digital age.

Visitors can pay extra for an audio guide that describes the beauty of Shinkai's work. The recording has been voiced by Ryunosuke Kamiki, the actor who plays the role of Taki Tachibana in "your name." 新海誠 (Makoto Shinkai)

Anime director born in Nagano in 1973. Debuted in 2002, with the self-produced short film "ほしのこえ (Voices of a Distant Star)." Has since produced a range of titles, including "雲のむこう、約束の場所 (The Place Promised in Our Early Days)," "秒速5センチメートル (5 Centimeters per Second)," "星を追う子ども (Children Who Chase Lost Voices)," and "言の葉の庭 (The Garden of Words)." Has received critical acclaim both at home and abroad. Touted as a standout director among the next wave of filmmakers. More than 19 million people went to see "your name." following its nationwide release in August 2016. Over 19 million people went to view the film domestically. It has gone to become a massive hit all over the world.
