Yu-ki Nishimoto's first solo exhibition "Ryu no Kiseki" opened at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum on Saturday 6th January and will run until Sunday 11th February 2018. Nishimoto is a highly talented, emerging sumi-e (indian ink painting) artist who is known for dynamic depictions of a wide range of subjects, such as dragons, warriors, athletes, and female figures.

We had a chance attend the opening ceremony and press viewing that took place on Friday 5th January prior to the start of the exhibition. Make sure to read our report to find-out more! An exciting series of events are scheduled to take place during the exhibition run, so make sure not to miss-out! Nishimoto will be painting live in front of an audience and holding a signing session on 13th January. There will also a "Sumi-e artist Yu-ki Nishimoto & classic guitarist Kaori Muraji special live performance" taking place on 2nd February. Yu-ki Nishimoto Profile

Born on 6th April 1988.
Originally from Kagoshima prefecture, but now based in Fukuoka prefecture.

An artist that explores the Japanese art form known as sumi-e, his ink-based creations have garnered attention from around the world. Not restricted to traditional methods, he combines bold, daring strokes with a delicate touch to produce dynamic images filled with energy and verve. A wonderful sense of emotional depth can be felt in works that explore a range of topics. Subjects vary from classic Japanese imagery, such as dragons and samurai, to modern athletes and musicians. Regularly performs live during events or for various TV shows and events. The ability to paint live in front of a crowd and create stunning pieces of art in the blink of an eye has captivated audiences all over the world.
