"The Tale of The Princess Kaguya" (2013) is an innovative movie depicted with watercolour strokes and creates a soft and dynamic impression. In addition to the groundbreaking depiction, the narrative depth of the drama must have surprised many people as well. There is an upcoming exhibition named "TAKAHATA ISAO: A LEGEND IN JAPANESE ANIMATION" by the director of the movie, Takahata Isao, who is also known as one of the Japanese animation masters. Finally, this Takahata Isao's first retrospective exhibition will take place at Fukuoka Art Museum from 29 April (Thursday) to 18 July (Sunday)! He is known as "a director who doesn't draw", unlike his Studio Ghibli co-founder/director Miyazaki Hayao who was initially an animator. In this exhibition, we will introduce the "Takahata style" of anime making and share the process of his collaborative work with other creators.
