What's going on inside "Kyuhaku"? Let's go and find-out!(4/9)

    Kyuhaku’s "Special Exhibition Gallery” (3rd floor) is constantly seeking to bring together all kinds of treasures!

    The "Special Exhibition Gallery" usually holds four exhibitions a year and gives visitors the chance to come into contact with some exquisite collections of artifacts, as well as rare treasures and masterpieces from inside and outside of Japan. The cutting edge themes of the exhibitions that they put on display are typical of what we have come to expect from Kyuhaku. And its success has not been limited to Japan, in recent years the museum has been gaining more and more attention from overseas tourists.
    They have held all kinds of large-scale exhibitions, such as "美の国 日本 (Japan, Country of Beauty)," and "中国 美の十字路 (China: Crossroads of Culture)" (2005), as well as "国宝 阿修羅展 (The National Treasure ASHURA and Masterpieces from Kohfukuji" (2009), which welcomed over 700,000 visitors. They have also featured "没後120年 ゴッホ展 (van GOGH: The Adventure of Becoming an Artist" (2011), the first Japanese showing of "大ベトナム展 (The Great Story of Vietnam)" (2013), as well as "台北 國立故宮博物院 (Treasured Masterpieces from the National Palace Museum, Taipei" (2014), which was a first for Asia.

    * Please note: At the time this article was written the exhibition that was on display was "The Great Terracotta Army of China's First Emperor," which ran from March 15th to June 12th 2016.
