A full-scale "RX-93ff νGUNDAM" statue has appeared at the large scale "Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Fukuoka" shopping complex! Find out more about the tallest GUNDAM statue ever created!

The design of Fukuoka's full-scale νGUNDAM is awesome! The eye catching construction is based on "RX-93 νGUNDAM." You might recognize this model from the 1988 "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack" movie. Tomino Yoshiyuki, the creator of the GUNDAM series, supervised the creation of the statue. It features the three vibrant colors associated with GUNDAM as well as a new piece of equipment called the "long range fin funnel." During the evening, some awesome videos will be projected on a nearby wall of the LaLaport FUKUOKA building. A total of 62 parts of the huge model emit light while the screenings take place in order to help recreate memorable clips that see νGUNDAM fight against the Axis operated asteroid. As the scenes progress, the head and arm of the statue actually move up and down to help bring the statue to life!

There are two types of movies for visitors to enjoy! At 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00, the RX-93ff νGUNDAM statue joins in with the stories that are being screened. It is as if the model actually takes the place of the RX-93 νGUNDAM that appears in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counter attack!" At 19:30 and 20:30, the "BEYOND THE TIME (Möbius no Sora wo Koete)" theme song from the same movie is played as background music to a video showing edited clips from the film. The unveiling ceremony of the full-scale GUNDAM statue standing outside LaLaport FUKUOKA took place on April 24th. Director Tomino recorded a video message that was played for the media. He spoke about the disappearance of νGUNDAM in the film. He went on to state that, "This statue was made by re-using designs and drawings that were left over, so it might look a little different to the movie version. I hope you enjoy this incarnation even if it is a bit different!

Voice artist Furuya Toru (known for portraying the character of Amuro Ray) made a special appearance alongside singer Moriguchi Hiroko (who recorded some of the GUNDAM theme songs). During the ceremony Furuya said, "My favorite mobile suit is ν GUNDAM. The upgraded 'long range fin funnel' is amazing!" Fukuoka-native Moriguchi also spoke at the event. She said, "I'm glad that GUNDAM is standing in my hometown. The statue radiates energy and vitality!"

Fujiwara Koji, who serves as Chief Gundam officer from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., addressed the crowd. He discussed the importance of the local area in the development of the "GUNDAM PARK FUKUOKA" entertainment facility and the full-scale statue. He noted that Fukuoka serves as a gateway to Asia. He went on to reveal a strong desire to "share the enduring appeal of GUNDAM not only in Japan but with people all over Asia and the rest of the world!" You can't help but stand in awe of such a dynamic statue. There are so many GUNDAM-themed attractions to enjoy! LaLaport FUKUOKA will probably become a sanctuary for GUNDAM fans!
