Classic udon noodles with outstanding tsuyu soup!

Mii Udonten
Even though Mii Udonten only opened its doors in March 2017 and is relatively new, it looks as if it were rooted here in this area for many years previously. The restaurant is only a 3 minute walk from Matsuzaki Station on the Nishitetsu Amagi Line. It is also convenient to get there by car: it only takes about 5 minutes from the Oita Expressway Chikugo Ogori IC.
Mii Udonten
The owner, Mr. Takeshima, used to do work not related to any restaurant, but apparently was so moved after tasting udon noodles in Tokushima (Shikoku island) that he made up his mind to open his own shop after retiring from his job. The owner studied soup making all by himself and during his quest to perfect his udon soup recipe, he came across udon noodles from Shinohara Seimenjo in Asakura City, which is close by to Ogori City. Now he was ready to open his shop.

This special soup recipe includes only natural ingredients, such as bonito and mackerel flakes and also kelp from Hokkaido. For the seasoning of the soup, he decided to use soy sauce and mirin from Fukuoka Prefecture to create a flavor that is familiar to the locals here.

Classic udon types such as burdock tempura, meat, chicken or maruten (fish cake tempura) are always available. The 'lucky dish' is small shrimp tempura udon, because it is only available when the restaurant was able to buy shrimp on that day. It is a popular dish with customers who come regularly. In addition to all of the above is another udon dish variety called "niku gobo" that serves the noodles with meat and burdock tempura together, which is a must-have combination in the Chikugo area and one of the most popular dishes in Mii Udonten. Please try one of these Udon dishes, they are all filled with the owner's passion for Udon.
