Visit Ikeda Kasuri Kobo and experience indigo dyeing!

Join their one-hour indigo dyeing workshop when you are visiting Chikugo region♪

Originated from the Chikugo region, which is in the southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, Kurume Kasuri is one of the nationally designated traditional craft product! By dyeing the yarn prior to the weaving process, fabric produced by this process possess the unique smeared patterns. The contrast between white yarn and indigo dye proves to be an excellent combination, and in Ikeda Kasuri Kobo, a weaving atelier of more than 100 years history located in Chikugo City, visitors can join their indigo dyeing workshop! Pick your item of choice - handkerchief, tote bag, T-shirs, scarfs, and many more -, apply your original design by using mold and rubber bands. This experience can be tried within around 1 hour, so you can also try this in between your other schedules during the trip in Chikugo! Want to try making your own original fashionable indigo item?
